I love the way how this horse moves, so I went to take pictures during his cow work. Surprisingly the picture I fall in love with, the reference for this painting, was the one I took after the ride. He just looked right in the camera, like he knew he was the star of the day, almost like saying “Did you see me?”. 
Sometimes I can have an idea about what I want to do, than it turns out to be something completely different…that’s how it goes with art and horses.

About the frame

One of a kind frame is hand made by my husband, David Slay. Each board is hand chosen to complement the artwork. From rough lumber, David hand crafts the molding to produce each frame. This piece is a modern style floating frame, made from curly Walnut.
