I loved this mare the first time I saw her. Sometimes that’s all it takes. She has the most beautiful, purple like coloring. I was thinking of doing my typical portrait style painting for her, than I saw this photograph and loved the movement in it. The tack and the rider did give me a little challenge as that’s not my typical subject, but I really enjoyed and I will continue doing it. 

About the frame

One of a kind frame is hand made by my husband, David Slay. Each board is hand chosen to complement the artwork. From rough lumber, David hand crafts the molding to produce each frame. This piece is made from curly Walnut.
